Daniel Lint

Daniel Lint is a graphic designer and collage artist living and working on Maui, HI. His work explores texture, movement, color, and form, transforming old imagery into new, giving life to the past.

Give us a little update, what’s been new since you moved from Seattle to Hawaii?
Alot — It’s definitely been a while! I have a 7 year old son who’s thriving, working with a bunch of great clients on the design side of things, gettin out in the water often and just being able to have a good balance in life.

What’s up in Hawaii? How’s life down there?
It’s amazing and I couldn’t be more grateful for it everyday. Slowed down life a bit, healthier routines, constantly learning and giving back in the ways I can. Being able to enjoy good weather for the majority of the year. It’s also been a great place for my son to grow up and just thankful for how everything’s come together.

What does an average day look like for you?
Pretty much the same thing everyday but usually up around 5-6AM, go for a run/workout, on weekdays depending if my son is with me that week i’ll get him ready and dropped off at school then knock out work I have for the day. After school we’ll go to the beach or park and chill. Evenings are just cooking and spending time with the fam, maybe work on some collages and call it a night. Throw some fishing and spearfishing in there on weekends and that about sums it up.

You’ve been creating a lot of art lately, any projects you’re excited about?
Nothing at the moment, just recently getting back into the swing of things as I had taken a bit of a break with work picking up and my son’s a bit older now so just didn’t have the time I used to. But stoked on exploring new ideas and just having fun with it again.

Any dream projects or dream clients?
There’s probably some but nothing I can think of off top. I would love to do something within skateboarding though. A board series would be cool.

Where do you look for inspiration?
Life in general seems to provide enough inspiration. From my environment, daily interactions, something I saw or listened to, emotions or thoughts at the time all tend to play a factor. That or pinterest haha.

What are you listening to these days?
Buncha reggae and jazz, some BBNG, daylist, running podcasts. Kinda just hit shuffle these days.
